We Got It!

Hi There Lovelies~
Just wanted to pop in and share my good news! We got the house we were after!! I found out this morning, and I'm way excited, so I just gotta blab! Want to see a sneak peak??
Idn't purrty???
(I totally ripped off this picture from a realty website, shhh. Don't tell anyone.)

I packed non-stop all weekend, just about every single thing we own is in boxes in the garage. Lordy, do I have a lot of stuff! Happy to report that we have managed to purge a ton! Christmas decorations, blankets & sheets, decorative pillows, decorative items, clothing, shoes, lamps, kitchen goods, glass wear, board games, a huge box of VHS movies, you name it. Sean and I have now taken 3 full truck loads to the Goodwill Donation Center since January. It's been purge central around this house! The question I've had to keep asking myself is "do I really love it?" and if the answer was no, into the donation box it went. I've been trying to be ruthless. Watching a few episodes of Hoarders helps. That show gives me the jeebers! The most painful cut was my books. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the process was heart wrenching. I love my books, y'all. I know they're just "things" and there's no way to keep them all, especially when you read a lot, which I do, but I feel like I kept so few of them, still... if I had to guess, I'd say I still have six full boxes, including cookbooks & craft books. Is that bad?

Anyway, I'm pretty excited to get this move done, these last couple of weeks have been stressful and exhausting and the last big push is just around the corner. Friday morning, a couple of guys from work, my brother, my husband and myself are going to make the big move! I think this house will be totally empty by the afternoon, we're gonna gitter done!

Hope it doesn't snow on us! It's supposed to be raining & seriously cold! They're even saying that San Francisco might see snow!! That'll be the first time in 36 years! Crazy-azy!!!

So, wish me luck & hang in there friends, I'll be back soon!

Moving on...

So it might be a bit quiet around these parts for the next week or so. Which is kind of a bummer, because I have some cool stuff to share with you. I will try to squeeze in a post or two when I can.

Moving is the pits. Is there anyone who enjoys moving? Can you imagine being a professional mover? Moving other peoples stuff around all day - every day?? Sounds like purgatory.

Why is it that when you start moving, the mess that packing creates just seems to get worse and worse? Seriously, you're packing things away, and more things keep appearing. Seemingly materializing out of no where? How is this possible, does anybody know??

This is kind of what my living room & garage look at the moment.

It's been a long week. I've been packing every night after work. I packed all day today.
Tomorrow, I'm tackling the kitchen and the back yard. Monday I'm hoping we'll be just about finished. We'll be living with only the barest necessities until we get to our new place. Paper plates & plastic silverware, oh joy!Wanna come help??? I'll pay in pizza & beer, or tea & scones, it's your choice. Anyone? Bueller?

Gee whiz, could I sound like more of a whiny, sourpuss in this post? Hehehe... I'm so sorry, friends. Moving is a drag. I am looking forward to the new place (fingers crossed - it's not ours just yet, we won't know until Tuesday or Wednesday - and yes, these pins & needles I'm sitting on are rather uncomfortable). If we get it,  I'll be over the moon! I'll even do a house tour once we get all settled in.

Anyhooo, hope you all are having a nice long weekend!
See you soon!

Edit: WHEW!!!
I fixed it! With one click, I accidentally deleted my background template this morning! For the life of me I couldn't remember where I'd originally found it, so I've been scouring the web!
Thankfully, I've remembered!

There, I've said it three times, now I won't forget it.

Ok, you can continue looking at my darling Ava.

Dang it! I've messed up my blog while I was trying to fix something... Here, let me distract you with a picture of my adorable neice, Ava.
Isn't she a cutie?

I fixed I'm trying to get "the ugly" as quick as I can could, thank you for bearing with me!

Here, Kitty~kitty...

A couple of weeks ago I gave a shout out about the dogs in our crazy family, but what about the kitties? We can't leave them out, now can we? Not to worry, I had something up my sleeves. Isn't it amazing how much stuff you can hide in your sleeves?

We are owned by two kittehs, first there's Egypt. Oldest and wisest, the ruler of animals of the Leggett Clan. He'll be 16 years old in March. (Kinda scary to think that in the time that I've had him, I could also have had a child who would be getting his drivers license soon! Yikes!) Then there's Chyna. Full name; Chyna Cat Sunflower. Named after one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. Otherwise known around these parts as "The Fat One". Ahh, poor Chyna. She can't help her fatness. She's super cute and minky soft. She makes an excellent leg warmer. She'll be 10 years old in April.

These are a couple of really old pictures of them doing what they do best... lounging. Not much has changed, except that now they have a fancy, fluffy, tepee to hide inside of, instead of shoe boxes on the desk. To be honest, I think they prefer the shoe boxes.

Egypt is in the yellow box, Chyna is in the blue...
Ignoring me and my camera. As usual.

Here's a more recent picture of Egypt, taken just last week. It's as if he knew I was stitching something for him, or rather, in his likeness. I normally don't let him sit on my lap while I'm stitching, flying needles and all that. But this night he would not budge. So I decorated him with floss.
Seemed only fair. He was not amused. maybe purple just isn't his color. He split shortly after I snapped his picture and doted on him.

Aaanyway, there's a point to all this rambling about kitties. I stitched one, or rather, I stitched Egypt... sorta.
I can't remember where I first ran across this pattern, but I was instantly in love! It's by Gina Matarazzo, and can be found in her Etsy shop.

Note the chewed up flowers... bad kitty.

It's true, sometimes my kitties are bad. But they still have their halo's and angel wings hidden somewhere and I love them just the same.

This is a pretty good sized piece, I'd guess close to 8x10". Eventually I'm going to make a quilted pillow with it. I think I'll use some of the same fabrics I made my first quilt with. I have a few scraps, and I still love these colors as much as ever. I think they'll coordinate well with this stitchy.

Are your kitties bad? Tell me your horror stories, I love cat tales!

Hope you all are doing well, and aren't being kept too cooped up or tormented with this crazy weather most of the US and Australia are being dealt. Snow and rain and wind, oh my! Stay warm and safe my friends!

I've been kind of quiet lately, more of a lurker than a commenter, but I've still been reading your blogs, I never get tired of it seeing what you guys are up to.
