15th Square

Good Morning Everyone~
Here is my 15th square. A little feesh. Somthing about the border of square 14 spoke of kelp and underwater plants to me, so I just went with it. I've never drawn a little fishy before, but I think he came out all right. I've got something cute planned for the square directly underneath him, so you'll have to stay tuned!

Progress...

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments you've been leaving me. Y'all are confidence boosters, that's for sure! I appreciate every single one more than you know. And I'm really enjoying getting to know some of you!

Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow!!

14th Square

Happy Monday Ladies!
Did anyone have a bit of a rough go this morning, the first day back to work after the time chage? I struggle. A morning person, I am not.

Here's my 14th square in the stitch~a~long, a dainty little fan... which I was in need of this morning when I opened my email and found a note from Paulette asking to visit her blog. Paulette is a WONDERFUL stitcher and craftswoman, if you haven't already visited her blog or her Etsy shop, you really need to. She's ama-ma-ma-mazing!! Her stictches are absolute perfection. I think she's magic. Where was I going with this...? Oh!! I won her giveaway!!!

Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's right, woohoo -- picture me sitting at my desk doing the Cabbage Patch and you'll have a pretty good idea of what a dork I am right now :o)~ Oh yes! I'm thrilled! I'm a big fan of Beedeebabee! Thanks Paulette!!! Yeeheehee... as far as I'm concerned, all Mondays from here on out need to start by finding out that you've won something as special as this... it really gets the day off to a dandy start!
Oh, back to the squares... I also went back last night and added a second puffy cloud. Much better, no?
Progress...

Have a great day everyone!!

11th, 12th and 13th Square

Morning Everyone~
Are you ready to "spring forward"?? Personally, I prefer to "fall back" I appreciate that extra hour in the morning... have you already set about moving all your clocks forward one hour? I haven't...I need coffee first :o)~

Who's ready for more squares? Me! Me!

Square 11~ A simple spring leaf

Square 12 & 13 ~ Happy scooter
A little scoot on a sunny day! That's one thing sure to make me happy! I think I'm going to add another little cloud in the upper left of this square. Originally this was only one square (square 13), not two, but after I finished it the last stitch on the scooter, I wanted to give this baby some pavement and sense of motion, so it grew into two squares and now looks just a little off balance. I think another puffy little cloud will solve that. What do you guys think?

So here's where we are so far, I dig this project more every day!!
~~~~
I have an adorable little scooter, don't think I've ever mentioned it here before, I love it. But... there's an upgrade in my future... I'll share the details soon, but here's a picture of the scooter I have now... isn't she CUTE?!? I could die from the cuteness! This is at the lake near our house. See that factory in the upper right? That's where Sean works, General Mills. If you live in the western half of the United States and you eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there's a good chance my husband made it! You're welcome. Heehee.
Sean has a scooter too, we scoot together. It's hecca fun! Summer before last we took the scoots to Yosemite and putzed around. It was awesome! Here's a couple of pictures...
In the truck, easy as you please...
Heck yeah we're about to scoot a National Park!
Of course the guy who offered to take our picture just HAD to get his hog in the shot... punk.
Two scooters were never as happy as these two...
That about wraps up show & tell for today kiddies! It's a beautiful crisp, blue day and I think I'm going to go for a scooter ride!
Toodles!
8th, 9th & 10th Squares (and a little redo)
Ahh, Saturday's... don'cha love em? I do... I slept til 9am this morning....ahhhhh... (couldn't have been because I was up until 3am last night completely sucked in to a movie on Lifetime, oh no.)
Due to a little snafoo with my sewing class last night I had time to stitch after all, yay! So here come squares 8, 9 and 10 for your viewing pleasure, as well as little revamping of square 5!
SQUARE 8
If you skate, you would be great, If you could make a figure eight. Place it on its side and it's a symbol meaning Infinity... ~ I love School House Rock, don't you? Eight has always been my favorite number, and it's also how many years I've been married to Sean. Fittingly, two little wedding rings are my 8th square.
SQUARE 9
"Bluebird of friendliness. Like guardian angels, it's always near. Make a little birdhouse in your soul."
I was a bluebird back when I was a little Camp Fire Kid. My mom was our group leader. And I LOVE They Might Be Giants. Seriously, Flood is one of those albums I'd take with me if I were stranded on a deserted island. Birdhouse In Your Soul is one of the best songs, ever. Period. You can not listen to it and not be happy. Try it, you'll see.
SQUARE 10
Just some simple stitches to fill in a little bit of space.
SQUARE 5, revisited...
I was not loving that swing (see previous post)... not even a little bit. The first thing I did when I sat down to stitch last night was snip out that swing and redo it. I'm much happier now. What do you girls think?
So here's where we're at so far...
I love this project! I'm so happy I went for it.
Have a great weekend chick-a-dees!
5th, 6th & 7th Squares
Morning Everyone~
TGIF!! TGIF!! TGIF!! Doesn't it seem like this week lasted a month?
Square number five coming at you!
I got a little crazy with the cheese whiz french knots. Two nights in a row! I'm wild like that. I'm not sure I like that swing though... Its bugging me. I might snip it out and add something different under the tree. What do you guys think?
Lazy Lotus from Embroidered Effects, thank you Jenny Hart. Simple and pretty.
Another little flower with a button and some bling... and of course at least 1 dog hair right across the middle of the picture... no project would be complete without one. The macro setting on my camera sees things my eyes don't, hehehe!
I don't know if I'll get to stitch tonight, I'm taking a seweing class at JoAnns, a simple sundress for my niece Ana, should be fun.
Have a fantastic Friday!
3rd & 4th Squares
Peace be with you... and also with you... Somthing I heard once when I went to church with my best friend and her parents when I was just a kid. I've never forgotten it. I think it's nice.
Who doesn't love a pretty cupcake?? Who?
I love the bumpy texture of all those french knots.
That's all for now, gotta go get ready for work. Have a great day and peace be with you!
2nd Square
In to each of our lives, a little rainbow must fall...
I'd hoped to get more done last night, but my darling husband Sean, came home from his first Jujitsu lesson with his head cracked open and stopped me dead in my tracks! We tried to go to the emergency clinic, but they were closed, and he refused to go to the emergency room at the hospital because he said he was "fine" and "it's not that bad"... mmmhmm.... Instead we went to Walgreens and stocked up on staph type antiseptic and those tape strip thingies that hold wounds together. He's got a pretty big goose egg up there, and a pretty yucky cut, but he said he's seen worse when he played ice hockey. I guess I'll have to take his word. He seemed ok this morning, now I just get to worry about the helmet he has to wear all day at work rubbing and possibly infecting his head wound. Joy!
I think I can safely say that Sean's UFC career is ovah!
1st Square
39 35 Squares! I'm changing up the grid a little. Amy, the gal who's put this lovely little stitchalong together is celebrating her 39th birthday with a 39 square sampler. Since I'm 35, and that makes a nice rectangle shape, I'm electing to do 35 squares. I traced out my sampler grid Sunday, and made a quick list of the kinds of things I like to stitch. I was chomping at the bit to get my first couple of squares completed last night, it's supposed to be one square per day, but I'm about 8 days behind, so I am going to make a couple per night until I catch up with the others. Unexpectedly however, I didn't get in until late last night and left very little time for stitching, hence only one simple square to show & tell today.
Anyway, are you ready? Aaaand, we're off!
Here's my grid... simple unbleached cotton. Each square is 1".
And here's my first little flower...
Teehee! I like this project. It's just a wee bit of stitching each night, and in a short amount of time, I'll have something pretty that I'll keep forever. It's like that saying...
Q. How do you eat an elephant?
A. One bite at a time.
Cheers!
39 Squares
Hey There!
You guys, I'm so excited, I'm starting something new and this is so neat! I'm about a week behind, I just found this blog yesterday, but I think I can catch up pretty quick. I think the real challenge for me will be actually posting a blog every single day for so many days in a row. I'm up for a new challenge, this looks like a good one, and fun too. I think the end will be really pretty.
Go check out this neat blog, and maybe join in the fun, it's called 39 Squares.
I've got my grid all traced out on my fabric, and most of my ideas for my squares jotted down. Can't wait to get home tonight and get stitching!
See you tomorrow!
Skies and dogs...
It's where my eyes have been drawn to lately.
We've had a long, wet winter for Northern California. Wetter than usual, and I'm not complaining, seems like we've been in a drought since 1985. Anyway, eyes to the skies lately. Yesterday in particular, it was... entertaining to say the least. Have you seen the latest in the Harry Potter series, The Half Blood Prince? You know the opening scene, the dark, nearly black skies above London that split open when the bad guys came spiraling out, trailing a smoky black vapor behind them? Yeah... it kinda looked like that... but instead of Death Eaters, we got hail.
Thankfully, the fury of storms like that don't last long, and by the time I left work for the day, we were treated to some especially beautiful, albeit moody skies...
This last photo was from my back yard; the sky was unbelievably pink, much more so than this picture, positively fuchsia!
I happened to have my camera with me and snapped these on my drive home. Arm out the window, streaking through the grape vineyards and almond orchards, 60mph, snap, snap, snap.
Today was a new day, crisp and scrubbed clean by yesterdays heavy rain. The sun was still shining when I got home from work, so it was "Come on dogs! Let's go for a walk!"
Lola and Butch have been such good sports this very rainy season. Do your dogs give you "the look" when you don't walk them? Ours do. Baleful and disappointed, as though we ought to be ashamed of ourselves depriving these poor doggy-souls of the joy of peeing where ever they please and the breeze through their nose. The weather IS NOT a consideration, not to them. So today, I took them to the canal and let them run, they deserved it... I got a beautiful sunset and some great pictures of my babies out of the deal, so it was a win-win.
Ready, set, go!
My pretty girl.
Dum-dee-dum...
Happiest when running... his ears crack me up, they're like sails.
Ahhh, spring is in the air...
How 'bout you? Are you ready to throw off the quilts and sweep out the fireplace? I'm not quite there, but the spring fever isn't far off. I hope you didn't mind all the pictures, I do believe I've been called snap-happy on more than one occasion. I have something new to share, hoping to be done by this weekend... stay tuned!
