Hi All!
I hope that spring is finding you well! It's weird & wonderful here in northern California this year, Saturday it was a blistering 91 degrees which really seemed to come out of nowhere, now it's cooled off again and we're expecting rain tomorrow, odd... and lovely. I love a spring rain.
Last week, I felt a urgent need to stitch a chubby blue bird, I could think of nothing else until this wee birdie was stitched. Has that ever happened to you?
I found a graphic I liked from the Hoop Love Vintage Transfer group on Flickr, printed it out, transferred it onto fabric and got to stitching!
She's a cute little bird and handy with a needle.
I stitched the needle using the same silver thread that I used on the fisherman's net on my Wynken, Blynken & Nod piece, seen here. It's made by Kreinik and is SO much easier to use than the metallics made by my usual, go-to brand of floss, DMC.
Hey, this little bird knows how to stitch! Look at her pretty little flowers, teehee.
There, all done! Life can resume as normal now that I've got that bluebird out of my system.
I've been up to a few other crafty things lately too, and I hope to share those with you very soon.
Sew! What have y'all been up to? Has the spring fever bug gotten to you yet? Do tell (and show if you have a link, I'd love to come over and see)!
Ta ta for now!
oxo,
Lisa
Lisa, this is beautiful! The needle is especially wonderful. Fabulous work. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe weather here in Southern Oregon has been much like yours. I had to refrain from turning on the air conditioning this weekend. Later this week it's supposed to be rainy and 20+ degrees cooler, I think. Oy! ;)
The weather has been cool here. Saturday was wonderful, then sunday came and I had to turn on the heater. brrrr.
ReplyDeleteI love your bird!
I've just finished up 2 Christmas ornaments. http://sewamy.blogspot.com/2012/04/jolly-holiday-with-mary.html
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.
Well, since you live just 25 minutes away I guess you know what my weather is like. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteI love that little blue bird! I love how the needle sparkles too. Well done!
Hugs,
Jill
Oh, so pretty! I've stitched this little design about 3 times! I have an original pattern in my collection and this design has always been one of my favorites!

This little bird turned out just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteToday in upstate SC we are having rain and thunderstorms with temps at 64. Too chilly for me. I am ready for that 90 degree weather!
Your bluebird piece is very pretty. I'll have to tell hubby about that Kreinik metallic thread - he usually uses DMC too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful design! And I love that you stitched the silver needle in silver thread. I'm starting to feel crafty here myself, I think!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I love the chubby bluebird! How fantastic! I am a sucker for vintage patterns for embroidery! I have always wanted to do some stark white pillow cases but never have! Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteLisa, this is simply darling -- you've done a beautiful job with this little stitchery! :)
