I first saw a sweet little heart like this on Spencers blog, Bellamere Cottage it was so darn cute that I had to give it a whirl. This is my first foray into felt, and use of beads. With her permission, I'm happy to share with you! It's not as cute as hers of course, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
All I could find when I went to the craft store, was crummy old felt. You know the kind for kids projects... 5 for $1.00? Not very good quality, and not many color choices either I'm afraid. I'm really looking forward to doing more of this type of thing, it's more my style than lengthy embroidery projects that might sit around and not get finished. I just need to find better materials.
Spencer says to hang these on a doorknob and they'll make you happy. She's right! Every time I walk past our extra bedroom and see the little heart hanging on the door, I smile to myself.

Well, didn't that just turn out so darn cute? Aren't they fun to make? I could sit for hours and do needlework....well, if I had the time, I would. I used to do my daily stuff and sit and do counted crosstitch for a couple of hours nearly every day back in the old days. How did I find the time? I must have been much more organized than I am now, that's for sure. I have loads of ideas floating around in my head....I just need to get busy and whip them up. I'm so glad it makes you happy....it really is the little things, isn't it?
Yep, I was a bit afraid...not so much of the bears, but let me tell ya...those elk? SCARY! They surrounded my car and I was scared to death one of those big antlers was going to whack my car. How would I explain that big dent? I moved on through that area as quickly as I could. :-)

You know...THAT is just so positively adorable!!! I love it hanging there on that door knob too! Your Spencer is right, it is a "happy" little treasure! I love hearts. I'm so drawn to that shape over and over again. <3 (I tried to visit Spencer's blog but couldn't get through.)
Lisa, I get my felt from two places. For a nice quility wool blend felt, go to Joggles.com, and for absolutely delicious, thick 100% felt, to to Feltpro on Etsy. Both of these felts are really nice to use. The Feltpro felt is my new love, and it's very forgiving! (translation...you can pull out lots of mistakes without destroying the felt!)
...As far as me cutting out such perfect little flowers, I'm using a die cutting machine for those! You can use just about any die in a Sizzix Bigkick machine. It's the BEST crafting tool I've ever gotten!
When I first started playing with felt last year, I was clueless as to what to use, and it took a while to figure things out. I would have loved to have someone to offer me little tips. If you ever have a question about anything that I may know a little bit about, just ask, and I'll try my best to help all I can!
Have fun playing with felt Lisa...who would have known that as grown ups, we'd still be having so much fun with it!!! I'd imagine it's very easy to use in the ballpark too! :o)

The felt heart door hanger you made is lovely. It looks very pretty on the door handle. I have always wanted to try a craft with felted wool. I love that you don't have to finish the edges. ;-)
